Peter Njeru's Bio

Peter Njeru is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, admitted in 2007. Prior to joining Kaplan & Stratton, Peter was an associate at Hamilton Harrison & Matthews Advocates. He is adept at advising and representing clients on matters relating to Forensics and Criminal Investigations, Commercial & Civil Litigation, Public Procurement advisory and litigation, Arbitration & Mediation, Energy, Infrastructure and Construction, Compliance and Due Diligence, International Trade Law, Immigration and Industrial Relations & Employment Law. Peter is a proficient courtroom lawyer and handles matters in the Court of Appeal, the High Court, Industrial Court, subordinate courts and specialized dispute resolution tribunals. Peter is also often appointed to sit as Arbitrator in diverse commercial disputes.

  • Representing a donor agency in a complex construction dispute involving the agency, the Government and a private contractor.
  • Successfully represented a regional bank in realising several instruments of guarantee for millions of Kenya Shillings.
  • Successfully defending a Horticultural Company in a complex employment dispute at the Industrial Court Nairobi.
  • Team member due diligence exercises and legal audits on both domestic and international transactions involving banks, telecommunications and petroleum companies.
  • Various advice and legal actions relating to Kenyan employment law including termination, restructuring and restrictive practices.
  • Various land disputes including claims for adverse possession, illegal allocation and fraud.
  • Representing a donor agency in a complex construction dispute involving the agency, the Government and a private contractor.
  • Successfully represented a Pharmaceutical Multination on a procurement dispute involving a tender valued at over 10 Million USD.
  • Successfully represented Siemens Proprietary Limited in disputed over a terminated state corporation tender valued over USD 10 million.
  • Successfully represented AMREF Flying Doctors in a contested tender for emergency rescue services.
  • Advised various national and multinational organizations in one of the largest liquidation petitions seen in Kenya.
  • Representing a leading multinational insurance company in relation to an anti-trust dispute.
