Eva Biegon's Bio

Eva joined the firm in February 2018 as a Senior Associate in the Corporate/Commercial department. She previously worked at the firm of Hamilton Harrison & Mathews Advocates for over 7 years and has worked as in-house legal counsel on secondment at CMC Motors Group Limited and Commercial Bank of Africa Limited.

Eva has considerable experience and skills in business formation, creation of bank securities, real estate acquisitions & disposals and the preparation and review of leases. She also has experience in drafting and enforcement of employment contracts, drafting and negotiating collective bargaining agreements, general management of employer and employee union relations and non-contentious succession matters.

EXPERIENCE

  • Advising clients on an assortment of legal and regulatory issues related to commercial transactions;
  • Securities documentation including drafting and perfection of charges and debentures;
  • Advising clients on business formation including incorporation of companies, setting up of trusts and non-governmental organizations;
  • Advising clients on the acquisition and purchase of land and preparing the necessary documentation. In particular:
    • Advising in the acquisition of land, and subsequent development, financing and sale of residential houses on the land, as well as some commercial and hotel facilities;
    • Advising in the acquisition of property for subsequent development
  • Advising clients on the various provisions of the Kenyan land ownership system and its effect on both conveyancing and commercial transactions;
  • Advising clients on the employment laws in Kenya particularly on unfair and wrongful termination, summary dismissal, redundancies, collective bargaining agreements, foreign employment contracts and generally on compliance with the employment laws;
  • Advising clients on the process of succession in Kenya and obtaining the necessary grants of representation;
  • Conducting Legal due diligence exercises for various companies and banking institutions.
