New Act Governing the Use of Movable Property as Security
The Movable Property Security Rights Act, 2017 came into force on 16 May 2017. It is a radical overhaul of the law relating to movable assets (including receivables) which will have a significant impact on the creation of security over assets in Kenya and other transactions, such as lease-hire and hire-purchase.
The Employment (Amendment) Bill, 2017 and the Breastfeeding Mothers Bill, 2017

Changes to Insurance Licensing Regimes
Some key changes to the Insurance Regulations seeking to reduce the administrative burden on insurers of having to provide similar information when making their yearly licensing applications.
A Welcomed Confirmation From the Court of Appeal on Redundancy
The Court of Appeal reaffirmed the principle that organisations have the freedom to conduct their businesses according to their own business plan. The decision to declare redundancy is vested in the employer however, organisations need to ensure they gave followed the correct legal process as stipulated by law.
